Lausanne is a Swiss city that happens to be within the district of Lausanne. Incidentally, the International Olympic Committee is based in this city as well. Ironically, the city’s own citizens voted against Lausanne hosting the 1992 Olympic Winter Games.

The center of Lausanne sits on a river called Flon which has been completely covered since the 19^th century. Unfortunately, Lausanne also used to be known in the 1990s as a hotspot for the spread of AIDS.
